Job summary

Austin Water is seeking an Engineer C to perform highly complex civil engineering tasks supporting wastewater treatment projects and CIP initiatives. The role involves field work, design, cost estimates, and coordination with contractors and utilities.

The position requires a PE in Texas (or ability to obtain within six months) and a bachelor’s in engineering with extensive engineering experience. Telework is possible along with field duties in the Austin area.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering with eight years of experience.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas or ability to obtain within six months.
• Strong knowledge of civil, environmental, water resources concepts.
• Experience with design, construction, and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

• Approves, seals plans and construction documents per regulations.
• Manages technically complex engineering projects with oversight.
• Develops cost estimates and feasibility reports for projects.
• Oversees contractors and coordinates with public agencies and utilities.
• Writes complex technical specifications for construction contracts.
• Reviews permits and ensures regulatory compliance.
• Conducts field inspections and documents findings.
• Delivers presentations to public, City Council, or customers.
