Job summary

City of Altamonte Springs seeks a seasoned Utilities Manager to direct operation, maintenance and repair of potable, reclaimed and wastewater systems. You will oversee budgets and capital projects, coordinating with engineering, inspectors, developers and contractors to ensure safe, compliant services.

The role requires extensive supervisory experience, a Level II water operator license or the ability to obtain within 18 months, and proficiency with Excel, Word, Outlook and Munis.

Qualifications

• Five years utility experience with progressive responsibility.
• Five years management experience with direct supervision.
• Level II FDEP Water Distribution System Operator License or ability to obtain within 18 months.
• Two years experience with Excel, Word, Outlook and Munis software.
• Valid Florida driver license or ability to obtain within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Direct and manage operation, maintenance, repair of potable, reclaimed and wastewater systems.
• Oversee annual resources and budgets; implement long-range capital improvements.
• Coordinate with Engineering, inspectors, developers and contractors to verify field conditions and coordinate shut downs, taps and connections.
• Assist with asset management, work order and infrastructure tracking systems.
• Identify and prioritize maintenance, rehabilitation and replacement needs; provide recommendations for CIP.
• Oversee safety, training, and safe work zones; monitor equipment and crews.
• Develop cost estimates and staff hours; prepare written reports.
• Investigate resident inquiries/complaints and take corrective action regarding water/wastewater operations.
• Coordinate regulatory notifications for sanitary sewer overflows and outages.
