Job summary

Essential Utilities, Inc. (Aqua) seeks a Utility Technician to perform a variety of tasks in water distribution, including installation and maintenance of piping, valves, hydrants and appurtenances. The role requires lifting up to 100 lbs, driving and vehicle maintenance, and readiness for emergency work.

Required are a high school diploma or GED, valid U.S. driver’s license, and the ability to obtain a CDL within six months. Competitive pay and union-informed wage progression apply.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Valid U.S. driver’s license required.
• CDL required or ability to obtain within six months from date of hire.
• Must pass oral, written or practical tests to determine qualifications.
• Satisfactory work record (no more than one disciplinary occurrence in three years).
• Must meet physical qualifications and obtain Class E Distribution License within 2 years.
• Must obtain competent person certification within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water distribution system facilities (mains, valves, hydrants, service lines).
• Perform maintenance on equipment and vehicles; process work orders and emails.
• Be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs; use tools and equipment properly.
• Maintain and operate assigned vehicles; report unusual conditions.
• Be available for emergency work after hours and on weekends; support overtime as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned and pursue skill development.
