Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is seeking a Utility Technician to perform a wide range of duties in the distribution department, including installation and maintenance of piping, valves, hydrants, services, and appurtenances. The role requires a high school diploma, a valid driver’s license, and the potential to obtain a CDL and Class E Distribution License within specified times.

The starting pay is $30.79 per hour, with wage progression through the bargaining unit.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED at hire.
• Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license at hire.
• Must hold CDL or obtain within six months.
• Aqua may require tests to determine qualifications.
• Must have a satisfactory work record (no more than one disciplinary occurrence within the last three years).
• Must meet the physical qualifications established for this position.
• Must hold a Class E Distribution License within 2 years.
• Must hold competent person certification or obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water distribution system facilities and associated equipment.
• Receive and process work orders; perform housekeeping and respond to emergencies as needed.
• Be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs and use tools/equipment properly.
• Operate and maintain vehicles assigned; report unusual conditions in the distribution system.
• Be available for emergency work after hours, weekends, and scheduled overtime.
