Job summary

Aqua, an Essential Utilities company, is hiring a Utility Technician to maintain and operate water distribution facilities, valves, hydrants, and related equipment. You will use tablet devices to process work orders, perform routine maintenance, and respond to customer needs in a safe, efficient manner.

The role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid U.S. driver’s license, and a CDL or plan to obtain one within six months.

Qualifications

• Must have a high school diploma or GED.
• Must hold a valid U.S. driver’s license at time of hire.
• Must hold a valid Commercial Driver’s License or be capable of acquiring one within six months from date of hire.
• Aqua may require applicant to pass reasonable tests—oral, written or practical to determine his/her qualifications.
• Must have a satisfactory work record (no more than one disciplinary occurrence within the last three years).
• Must meet the physical qualifications established for this position.
• Must hold Class E Distribution License – PA DEP or obtain within 2 years.
• Must hold competent person certification or obtain within one year.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain water distribution system facilities, such as water mains, valves, hydrants, service lines, etc.
• Operate and perform maintenance on all equipment and vehicles used in the maintenance of the water system.
• Use tablet/computer to receive and process work orders and email.
• Perform housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Satisfactorily meet internal and external customer requirements.
• Be physically capable of lifting up to 100 lbs.
• Proper use and maintenance of tools, and equipment.
• Responsible for the operation and proper maintenance of vehicles assigned.
• Note and report unusual conditions in the distribution system.
• Be available for emergency work after regular working hours and weekends and for scheduled overtime.
• All other duties as assigned and capable of increasing skills with experience and proper instruction.
