Job summary

The City of Worcester is seeking a Cross Connection Coordinator to protect the public water supply by identifying, inspecting, and mitigating cross-connections. You will oversee the CCCP, supervise field contractors, and enforce backflow requirements across municipal, commercial, industrial, and residential properties.

Required are strong knowledge of cross-connection programs, blueprints interpretation, and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• Strong knowledge of cross-connection control principles and backflow prevention.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints, site plans, and piping schematics.
• Familiarity with EPA, AWWA, and state health/environmental standards.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong organizational and data management skills.
• Mass DEP licenses obtainable within 6 months of hire.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and tracking software.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks.
• Regular onsite attendance required.

Responsibilities

• Manage and update the City’s Cross Connection Control Program to satisfy local and state requirements.
• Supervise CCCP contractors conducting tests and surveys.
• Coordinate staff to complete CCCP work.
• Conduct field inspections and tests of backflow devices at various properties.
• Identify potential cross-connections and advise corrective actions.
• Maintain cross-connection database with inspection results and enforcement actions.
• Issue notices and follow up on violations per municipal codes.
• Coordinate with inspectors, contractors, and customers on backflow requirements.
• Support development of new buildings and redevelopment with review of plans.
