Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill in Hartford, CT seeks a Wastewater Treatment Project Manager to lead design, evaluation, and delivery of complex wastewater infrastructure projects. You will coordinate multidisciplinary teams, engage clients and regulators, and guide projects from concept through commissioning.

The ideal candidate has a PE license, 8+ years in wastewater treatment design, strong leadership and communication skills, and a track record of delivering on time and within budget.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design and process engineering.
• PE license required.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Experience with process modeling tools such as BioWin or GPS-X is a plus.
• Willingness to travel 5–10% throughout New England.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades
• Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR)
• Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems
• Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations
• Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables
• Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance
• Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts
