Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill in Hartford, CT is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Project Manager to lead high-impact treatment projects and collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across concept to commissioning.

You will drive process evaluation and design for municipal facilities, coordinate with clients and regulators, and help deliver infrastructure improvements that affect communities across New England. Hybrid work options available.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license is required.
• 8+ years of experience in wastewater treatment design and process engineering.
• Strong communication, leadership, and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades.
• Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR).
• Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems.
• Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations.
• Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables.
• Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts.
