Fuss & O’Neill is seeking a Wastewater Treatment Project Manager to lead projects from concept through commissioning in Hartford, CT. You’ll collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, interface with clients and regulators, and deliver high-quality wastewater solutions that improve community infrastructure.

The role requires PE licensure and 8+ years of wastewater design experience, plus strong leadership and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8+ years of wastewater treatment design and process engineering.
• Strong expertise in municipal wastewater treatment and nutrient removal.
• Proven experience managing projects, delivering on time and within budget.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and AutoCAD.
• Experience with process modeling tools such as BioWin or GPS-X a plus.
• Experience with funding programs (SRF, USDA Rural Development) a plus.
• Ability to travel 5–10% throughout New England.

Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades.
• Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR).
• Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems.
• Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations.
• Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables.
• Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts.
