Wastewater Treatment Plant Operator: You will maintain compliance with NPDES and local permit requirements to discharge wastewater.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Maintain records and data for the entire water and wastewater treatment plant.
- Perform required calibrations of laboratory equipment.
- Maintain required calibration logs.
- Enter data into computer files and file paper copies of bench sheets.
- Summarize, complete, and file state and local monthly DMR reports.
- Perform PADEP and Borough required laboratory testing.
- Obtain required wastewater samples for local and state permits adhering to proper sampling protocol.
- Liaison with wastewater testing labs for outsourced testing.
- Use DO/Ph meter, sludge judge, microscope, and other equipment to obtain daily WWTP readings and make adjustments to WWTP based on readings.
- Ensure Starch Recovery system is operational and cleaned on a weekly basis.
- Maintain inventory of chemicals, tools, etc. that are used within the WWTP.
- Ensure materials needed for daily use are available and operational.
- Maintain cost control of materials to stay within budget.
- Maintain a professional relationship with state and local agencies.
- Observe and report conditions that affect the WWTP daily operations.
- Inform and report conditions that could affect permit compliance to plant management.
- Provide information and plans for corrective action for adverse conditions.
- Supervise WWTP Employees.
- Schedule work across three (3) shifts for employees.
- Monitor and approve hours worked in payroll system.
- Provide guidance with daily work tasks.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred.
- Valid PA Wastewater License or obtain within one year of employment.
- 2 years Supervisory experience.
- 2 years of Wastewater Plant Operations experience.
- 1 year of General Laboratory Skills.
- Strong computer skills.
