THE POSITION

Complement our team with your trades skills as a Utility Plant Operator 2! Clarks Summit State Hospital is seeking mechanically skilled individuals to join our Facility Services, Boiler Plant Operator Team. In this role, you will be responsible for operating our gas and oil boiler plant. This position requires a mechanically skilled, self-motivated, and independent thinker to complete assignments. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

As a Utility Plant Operator 2, you will maintain boiler plant operations at Clarks Summit State Hospital. Your duties will include performing various operation repairs on single and multiple fuel power boilers, using controls and gauges to determine adjustments or corrections to be made, and repairing and maintaining control equipment. In this position, you will observe and note readings on gauges, meters, and computer-generated and analog displays to detect danger signals. You can expect to identify defects in equipment and building fixtures and make repairs. Additionally, you will use and care for tools and equipment and follow safety precautions.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

  • Full-time employment
  • Work hours are 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM during the training period. Once training is successfully completed, work hours will as follows, on a rotating schedule, including weekends and holidays.
    • 3rd shift: 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM, with a shift differential of $1.15 per hour
  • Travel and overtime as needed
  • Free parking!
  • Telework: You will not have the option to telework in this position.
  • Salary:In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

  • One year of experience as a Utility Plant Operator 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration);or
  • One year of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment;or
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training that includes six months of semi-skilled work experience in the operation, maintenance, or repair of industrial, commercial, or institutional utility plant systems and related equipment.

Special Requirements:

  • This position requires possession of an active Class C motor vehicle license.

Other Requirements:

  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.

  • A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination.
  • This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act.
