Job summary

City of Whitewater is seeking a Wastewater Specialist I to assist operators and plan daily tasks at the treatment facility and remote collection sites. The role includes maintaining lift stations, cleaning the collection system, and performing preventive maintenance with basic electrical, welding, and carpentry tasks.

Candidates should have an associate degree preferred and two years of hands-on wastewater experience.

Qualifications

• Two years of hands-on experience in wastewater operations.
• Knowledge of wastewater treatment concepts and practices.
• Experience with mechanics, electrical work, welding, and carpentry is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Assist Operators and plan daily/weekly work at the facility and remote locations.
• Inspect lift stations and collection system infrastructure.
• Perform routine preventive maintenance and minor repairs.
• Operate hand-powered and power construction equipment used by the department.
• Maintain logs, safety compliance, and SCADA data review.
• Work rotating weekends and holidays as needed; 40-hour week with overtime considerations.
• Serve as primary contact for lift station maintenance and collection system upkeep.
• Assist with ArcGIS corrections and data uploads.
