Job summary

The City of Peoria’s Wastewater Collection division seeks a motivated Utility System Operator II to join our team. This role focuses on lift station operations, inspections, maintenance, and emergency response to ensure reliable service for the community.

Ideal candidates will show initiative, teamwork, and a willingness to learn all aspects of wastewater collection operations, with opportunities to grow as the system expands and evolves.

Qualifications

• 1 year of previous experience required in the same or similar previous positions.
• High school graduation or equivalency.
• Valid Arizona Class “A” Commercial Driver’s License with Tanker and HazMat endorsements within 6 months of hire.
• One (1) Grade I Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) Certification in Wastewater Collection upon hire. Must obtain Grade II ADEQ Certification in the Wastewater Collection within one year of hire.
• A main requirement of the job is physical labor.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain lift stations and related equipment.
• Perform sewer system inspections and hydro-cleaning.
• Conduct CCTV inspections and manhole inspections.
• Perform pump maintenance and respond to emergencies.
• Troubleshoot wastewater collection system issues and assist in system expansion as Peoria grows.
