Job summary

Johnson County Government seeks a Maintenance Specialist to support the operation and maintenance of a wastewater treatment facility and off-site pump stations.

This role involves inspecting equipment with SCADA data, performing basic maintenance, conducting laboratory sampling, and coordinating with public haulers and vendors. The position may require shift work and adherence to safety protocols to ensure essential county services run smoothly.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; one year of mechanical/maintenance experience in HVAC, electrical, plumbing, or biology/chemistry fields.
• Driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
• Vo-Tech training or certification in HVAC, plumbing, electrical, or relevant field; Associate’s degree mentioned as preferred.

Responsibilities

• Inspects and documents plant and pump station processes using SCADA readings and field observations.
• Performs preventative and basic maintenance on pumps, valves, motors, and associated equipment.
• Assists with repair/replacement of piping and infrastructure as needed.
• Maintains operational and maintenance records and performs routine calculations.
• Interfaces with haulers, drivers, vendors, and the public; addresses routine questions and escalates complex requests.
