Job summary

Fuss & O’Neill, Inc. in Providence, RI, seeks a senior wastewater engineer to lead large projects through design, permitting, and construction phases. You’ll manage budgets, schedules, and client relationships while mentoring junior staff.

This hybrid role combines in-office collaboration with remote work several days a week. A PE license and 8+ years in municipal wastewater are required, with travel 5–10% regionally in New England.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Environmental, or related Engineering field.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license.
• 8+ years of wastewater treatment design and process engineering.
• Strong expertise in municipal wastewater treatment and nutrient removal.
• Willingness to travel 5–10% in New England.

Responsibilities

• Manage full lifecycle of wastewater treatment projects, including new facilities, expansions, and upgrades.
• Lead process evaluation and design for primary, secondary, and tertiary systems, including biological nutrient removal (BNR).
• Evaluate and optimize treatment processes such as activated sludge, MBR, SBR, trickling filters, and advanced systems.
• Oversee process modeling, mass balance analyses, and capacity evaluations.
• Develop solutions for biosolids treatment, including digestion and dewatering.
• Manage project budgets, schedules, resources, and deliverables.
• Prepare and present technical reports, plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Support permitting and regulatory compliance.
• Provide construction-phase services, including submittal review, RFIs, field inspections, and startup/commissioning.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to team development.
• Build and maintain strong client relationships while supporting business development efforts.
