Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer seeks a Wastewater Project Engineer for our Sacramento, California office. You will contribute to all phases of design—from feasibility through construction—on a broad range of wastewater infrastructure projects, collaborating with clients and interdisciplinary teams.

Responsibilities include preparing drawings, design calculations, and technical memos, with fieldwork and occasional travel.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering required.
• PE license in California preferred.
• 5–12 years of wastewater infrastructure experience (design/management).
• Proven ability to deliver multi-year projects in multidisciplinary teams.
• Proficient in MS Office and strong technical writing.
• Effective communicator with staff, clients and regulators.

Responsibilities

• Support development of treatment strategies and process design.
• Coordinate with clients and internal technical specialists.
• Prepare construction documents and design calculations for wastewater projects.
• Lead technical writing for memos, reports and design basis documents.
• Mentor junior staff and perform quality control reviews.
• Support proposals, site visits and field observations.
