Job summary

Hazen and Sawyer is seeking a Drinking Water Project Engineer for our Sacramento, California office. The role focuses on all phases of drinking water and reuse projects, with responsibilities spanning design, planning, and construction support.

You will mentor staff, coordinate with clients, and lead technical writing for master plans and basis of design reports. Ideal candidates have a civil/environmental engineering background and 5–12 years of relevant municipal water experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in civil/environmental engineering.
• 5–12 years of municipal water treatment or related experience.
• Proficient in all MS Office software and capable of presenting complex issues.

Responsibilities

• Project engineering/management with design, planning, and operational support for drinking water/reuse projects.
• Serve as task lead and deputy project manager; mentor junior staff.
• Coordinate with clients and internal specialists for project delivery; manage scope and schedules.
• Prepare construction documents and lead technical writing for reports and basis of design.
• Provide engineering services during construction, including RFIs and submittal reviews.
• Ensure quality delivery and alignment with client budgets and requirements.
