Job summary

City of St Joseph is seeking an Assistant Superintendent of Water Protection to assist in the management and direction of the wastewater treatment plant's operations and maintenance. The role supports liaison with federal, state and local regulators and oversees budgeting and staff scheduling.

The ideal candidate will hold an Associate’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field, plus 2–3 years of supervisory WWTP experience.

Qualifications

• Extensive knowledge of wastewater treatment processes.
• Missouri Class "A" wastewater certification or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Ability to supervise staff and manage a high-volume WWTP.
• Ability to interpret federal, state and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and report information for federal/state permitting requirements.
• Assist in annual budget preparation and monitoring expenditures.
• Oversee plant inspections and maintenance planning.
• Supervise staff and coordinate personnel matters.
• Coordinate major projects to meet time and budget targets.
