Job summary

The City of St Joseph is seeking a Waste Water Treatment Plant Specialist to perform varied and skilled tasks in the operation and maintenance of the Waste Water Treatment Plant. You will supervise staff and lead maintenance efforts to keep equipment running safely and efficiently.

Qualifications include a high school diploma or GED with college coursework in wastewater treatment, a Class C Waste Water Treatment Plant Operator Certification from Michigan, three years of plant experience, a valid

• Knowledge of machinery, equipment, materials and operation practices of a modern wastewater treatment plant.
• Ability to lead others and establish working relationships.
• Ability to maintain records and prepare reports.
• Experience with maintenance and repair of plant equipment.

Responsibilities

• Inspect operation of WWTP and pumping plant equipment.
• Lead workers and assist in minor repairs and maintenance of machinery.
• Train WWTP staff.
• Monitor chemical usage and order deliveries.
• Prepare written operating procedures.
• Evaluate probationary employees and equipment performance.
• Be familiar with lab results and maintain plant parameters.
• Prepare and review records and reports.
• Operate equipment to complete tasks.
