Job summary

The City of Tacoma's Environment and Public Works Department is seeking a skilled WWTP Electrician/Instrumentation Technician to join our collaborative team responsible for electrical and instrumentation maintenance across wastewater treatment plants and related facilities.

You will perform journey-level electrical work, install and maintain control systems, motors, relays, PLCs, and SCADA/HMI systems while implementing preventive and predictive maintenance to ensure safe, efficient operations.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent is required.
• Two years journey-level electrician or instrumentation experience in an industrial/manufacturing setting.
• Two years of advanced coursework in electric theory and industrial controls.
• Additional experience can substitute for education at the rate stated in the posting.

Responsibilities

• Perform journey-level electrical and instrumentation maintenance on WWTP equipment, instrumentation, controls, and motors.
• Develop and implement proactive maintenance including preventative and predictive maintenance.
• Maintain equipment and systems across wastewater treatment plants, pumping stations, and related facilities.
• Work with relays, PLCs, circuit breakers, electrical distribution, and motor controls.
