Job summary

City of Tacoma is seeking Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Technicians to perform skilled maintenance duties at the wastewater treatment plant, lift stations and surface water facilities. The role requires experience with tools and equipment, teamwork and the ability to meet tight schedules.

Ideal candidates will read blueprints and manuals, maintain and repair pumps and related equipment, and contribute to safe and efficient plant operations.

Qualifications

• Experience with maintenance and repair work in wastewater systems.
• Ability to read and interpret manuals, process or equipment plans.

Responsibilities

• Operate and maintain a diverse range of equipment and tools used in wastewater operations.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repair duties, inspect equipment and ensure proper operation.
• Maintain and repair pumps, screens, conveyors, piping and related equipment.
• Conduct routine pump station checks and service lift stations.
• Read and understand O&M manuals and equipment plans.
• Coordinate and complete multiple duties concurrently and safely.
• Remove, transport and install equipment using cranes and lifting devices.
• Perform basic electrical, mechanical, painting and masonry work as needed.
