Job summary

City of Tacoma currently seeks an Engineering Instrumentation Technician to install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair analog and digital instrumentation and SCADA equipment. The goal is to keep the SCADA system reliable for monitoring water supply, storage, and treatment facilities.

The role requires reading electrical diagrams, performing calibration, and maintaining field devices with strong attention to detail.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent requirement.
• Two years as a lead in an industrial work environment.
• AND one of the following: certification in Instrumentation or Electrical Technology with journey-level Electrician/Instrumentation Technician OR advanced coursework in instrumentation with two years in engineering-related maintenance.

Responsibilities

• Install, calibrate, troubleshoot, and repair analog and digital instrumentation and SCADA equipment.
• Maintain SCADA system reliability to ensure accurate monitoring of water facilities.
• Install and maintain remote telemetry systems and PLCs, plus signal transducers.
• Calibrate corrosion control equipment and associated systems.
• Maintain instrument wiring, documentation, and parts inventory.
• Engage in preventative maintenance and perform routine calibration of field devices.
