Job summary

The City of Tacoma Environment and Public Works Department is seeking Wastewater Treatment Plant Maintenance Technicians to perform skilled maintenance and repair across WWTPs, lift stations, and surface water facilities. This role requires teamwork, safety-mindedness, and the ability to read blueprints and run preventive maintenance.

Ideal candidates bring experience in wastewater equipment maintenance, strong record-keeping, and effective communication.

Qualifications

• Requires high school graduation plus training in maintenance trades and 2 years of maintenance/repair experience.
• Knowledge of tools and equipment used in wastewater treatment plants and ability to read blueprints and sketches.
• Strong oral and written communication skills; able to maintain records and work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Operate equipment and use hand and power tools to perform maintenance and repair duties.
• Maintain and repair pumps, screens, conveyors, piping and related equipment.
• Perform routine checks at lift stations and read/interpret manuals and plans.
• Coordinate multiple tasks to meet schedules and ensure safety and quality.
