Job summary

The City of Attleboro seeks a Superintendent of Wastewater who will, under the policy direction of the Mayor, perform complex and responsible duties requiring independent judgment in the operation and maintenance of the City’s wastewater treatment facilities and collection system.

Duties include supervising the operations and maintenance, managing budgets and capital projects, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supervising staff.

Qualifications

• Requires a Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, civil engineering or related field.
• 10 years of progressively responsible municipal wastewater operations experience, including at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
• Knowledge of state and federal pollution control laws and wastewater treatment operations.
• Ability to plan, assign and supervise staff and communicate effectively in writing and speech.

Responsibilities

• Supervise operation and maintenance of the wastewater treatment facility and sanitary sewer system.
• Oversee preventative maintenance and repairs of process machinery and facilities.
• Prepare department budget, manage capital projects and bid specifications, and oversee payroll and records.
