Job summary

The Town of Fuquay-Varina seeks a capable supervisor for the wastewater collections system. You will oversee preventive maintenance, repairs, and upgrades, manage crews, and ensure safety and regulatory compliance.

Heavy equipment operation and attention to quality records are essential. Candidates must have a high school diploma, NC Grade IV Sewer Collection Operator Certification, and a valid NC Class-A CDL with tanker endorsement (or ability to obtain).

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent with 5+ years in construction/maintenance of utility lines.
• Must possess NC Grade IV Sewer Collection Operator Certification.
• Valid NC Class-A CDL with tanker endorsement or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Strong supervisory and training skills; ability to manage safety, performance coaching, and evaluations.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate and supervise preventive maintenance, repair, and replacement of wastewater collection systems and appurtenances.
• Maintain records, reports, and daily logs of work progress and materials.
• Lead staff scheduling, safety training, and performance evaluations.
• Inspect ongoing work for adherence to design, schedule, materials, and standards.
• Operate and troubleshoot heavy equipment and power tools as required.
• Assist with budgeting, purchasing, and inventory for division needs.
• Engage with customers, contractors, and other departments as needed.
