Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator - Heavy Equipment to safely operate at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station. You will transfer, spread, load, and compact waste or soil while adhering to safety standards and company policies.

The role emphasizes efficient, reliable operation and compliance with safety procedures. The position requires prior heavy equipment experience, OSHA-site exposure, and a commitment to quality customer service.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior related experience in heavy equipment operation.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good customer service skills; acts in a professional, courteous and cooperative manner toward customers and co-workers.
• Good time management skills to complete tasks safely and efficiently.
• Ability to adhere to Company policies and safety standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment and ensure safety standards are met.
• Safely operate equipment such as forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment.
• Monitor waste to identify unacceptable materials.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer major issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and report repairs to supervisor.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures.
• Ensure shop is clean and equipment is properly stored after each shift.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
