Job summary

Republic Services is seeking an Operator - Heavy Equipment to safely operate equipment at a recycling center, landfill or transfer station, performing loading, spreading, covering and compaction tasks with a focus on efficiency and safety.

You will inspect equipment, monitor waste quality, report repairs, and support a clean, safe work site while adhering to all safety policies and procedures. Prior experience with heavy equipment and OSHA-regulated sites is required.

Qualifications

• Two years of prior heavy equipment operation experience.
• One year of prior experience working at sites regulated by OSHA.
• Good safety awareness and ability to follow policies and procedures.
• Strong customer service orientation and professional behavior.
• Effective time management and reliability in completing tasks.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-operation inspection of the equipment in accordance with Company policy.
• Safely and efficiently operate equipment that may include: forklift, excavator, bulldozer, front-end loader and other equipment.
• Continuously monitor waste for evidence of unacceptable waste in materials.
• Continuously monitor the condition of the equipment to ensure it is operationally ready at all times.
• Perform and document minor service on equipment; refer more complicated issues to Maintenance Shop.
• Complete Equipment Condition Reports and other reports; report repairs to supervisor as needed.
• Follow all required safety policies and procedures; keep shop clean and organized.
