Job summary

Crook County is seeking a part-time landfill scale operator to manage loads, calculate tipping fees, collect payments, and educate customers on disposal procedures. The role covers indoor/outdoor work across all weather conditions and involves basic cashiering and computer use. Position is temporary, Thursday–Saturday, 8:00 a.m.

to 4:30 p.m.; occasional travel may be required. Applicants should have a high school diploma or GED and at least 1 year of customer service experience; Word and Excel

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED is required.
• One year of customer service experience is required.
• Microsoft Word and Excel proficiency is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Manage each load entering the landfill.
• Inspect and examine loads to identify and categorize waste.
• Ensure proper paperwork for special waste loads.
• Operate computerized scales to determine weight and fees.
• Collect money and issue receipts.
• Balance cash drawer and daily closing reports.
• Direct drivers to proper landfill areas and deny unauthorized materials.
• Field incoming phone calls.
