Job summary

The Buncombe County Solid Waste Department in Asheville, NC is hiring a Scale Operator to weigh trucks, collect tipping fees, and record data at the landfill or transfer station. You will provide customer service and process card payments while working as part of a three-person team.

The position requires a high school diploma, at least one year of experience, a valid NC driver’s license, overtime and Saturday work, and SWANA training within the first year of hire.

Qualifications

• High School or equivalent.
• Minimum of one year experience.
• SWANA Operator training within first twelve months of hire.
• Possession of a valid State issued driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Weigh trucks, read scales, record pertinent information, and direct traffic at the landfill or transfer station.
• Handle cash transactions and process card payments efficiently and accurately.
• Review and verify records and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
