Job summary

City of Springfield, Missouri is seeking a Solid Waste Operations Associate to determine waste composition, volumes, and weights, to assess and collect fees, and support operations at the landfill and recycling centers. The role includes a strong customer service component for community members.

Experience in scale operation and public-facing records is preferred, with a CDL class B license required within probation and a Missouri DNR landfill technician certification within the first year.

Qualifications

• One year of experience in scale operation.
• General record keeping work experience with an emphasis on public contact.
• Preferred: Customer service experience and computer skills.
• Some experience in the operation of over-the-road trucks and/or equipment operation.

Responsibilities

• Determines incoming waste composition, volumes, and weights to assess and collect appropriate fees and supports operation of the Springfield Sanitary Landfill, Yardwaste Recycling Center, and other Solid Waste Facilities.
• Serves in a customer service role with community members.
