Responsibilities

• Picks up solid waste and places it in the back of a rear load garbage truck on specified routes.
• Provides courteous and expeditious customer service to the public and customers.
• Ensures garbage and recyclables are picked up and transferred properly; may involve back door service.
• Answers questions for residents and directs them to Customer Service or government offices.
• Assists Driver in safely backing up the truck by directing the Driver from the ground.
• Cleans behind the compactor blade and cleans the hopper and truck at shift end or as needed.
• Reports safety or customer service issues to driver and supervisor immediately.
• Performs a variety of manual duties in cleanup of scattered refuse and replaces containers.
• May work during emergency situations and assist other routes as needed.
• Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
