Job summary

HDR is seeking a Washington Area Safety Manager to lead SH&E programs across office and field environments. You will implement site safety plans, support project teams, and drive auditing, training, and JHA development to ensure regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a closely related field.
• Minimum 5 years of Safety Health and Environment experience.
• Certification in SH&E fields such as CIH, CSP, ASP, CHMM, CHST, GSP, or equivalent SH&E PM experience.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards.
• Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Team-oriented with strong oral and written communication.
• Active participant in an employee-owned culture is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Show proficiency in SH&E auditing and inspection protocols, behavior‑based safety observation program implementation, and development and review of Job Hazard Analysis.

• Display working knowledge of SH&E regulatory codes to include both federal and state standards.
• Partner with the Area Manager to establish best practices and procedures in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous SH&E work experience in construction, mining/tunneling, water infrastructure, DOT, Oil and Gas and/or A&E firm

Required Qualifications

• A minimum of 5 years experience in Safety Health and Environment field
• Certification in one or more SH&E fields such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), or equivalent SH&E Project/Program Management experience
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards
• Knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
• Team‑oriented with proven oral and written skills to support company SH&E policy and procedural requirements
• Acceptance of an active participant role in an employee‑owned culture is mandatory
