Job summary

HDR in Washington State is seeking a Washington Area Safety Manager to lead SH&E programs for both field and office environments near Olympia. You will implement site-specific safety plans, review procedures, and support Project/Construction Managers in SH&E requirements.

The role requires a Bachelor or Technical degree in OH&S, 5+ years in SH&E, relevant certifications (CIH, CSP, ASP, CHMM, CHST, GSP), OSHA/ANSI knowledge, and strong MS Word/Excel/PowerPoint skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a closely related field.
• Minimum of 5 years experience in Safety Health and Environment field.
• Certification in SH&E fields such as CIH, CSP, ASP, CHMM, CHST, GSP, or equivalent.
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards.
• Knowledge and application of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.
• Team-oriented with proven oral and written skills to support SH&E policy and procedures.
• Active participant role in an employee-owned culture is mandatory.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate proficiency in implementing and reviewing site-specific safety plans and programs.
• Support field staff and Project/Construction Managers in SH&E requirements.
• Audit and inspect SH&E protocols and develop Job Hazard Analysis.
• Facilitate SH&E training as required.
• Partner with Area Manager to establish best practices in SH&E for office and field.
• Perform other duties as needed.

Responsibilities

In the role of Washington Area Safety Manager, we’ll count on you to:

• Demonstrate proficiency in implementing and reviewing site‑specific safety plans and programs
• Support and assist the company’s field staff and Project/Construction Managers in SH&E requirements
• Show proficiency in SH&E auditing and inspection protocols, behavior‑based safety observation program implementation, and development and review of Job Hazard Analysis
• Be proficient in SH&E training and able to facilitate this training as required
• Display working knowledge of SH&E regulatory codes to include both federal and state standards
• Partner with the Area Manager to establish best practices and procedures in support of SH&E requirements within an office and field environment
• Perform other duties as needed

Preferred Qualifications

• Previous SH&E work experience in construction, mining/tunneling, water infrastructure, DOT, Oil and Gas and/or A&E firm

Required Qualifications

• Bachelor or Technical degree in Occupational Health, Safety, Industrial Hygiene or a closely related field
• A minimum of 5 years experience in Safety Health and Environment field
• Certification in one or more SH&E fields such as Certified Industrial Hygienist (CIH), Certified Safety Professional (CSP), Associate Safety Professional (ASP), Certified Hazardous Materials Manager (CHMM), Construction Health and Safety Technician (CHST), Graduate Safety Practitioner (GSP), or equivalent SH&E Project/Program Management experience
• Extensive knowledge of OSHA and ANSI regulatory standards
• Knowledge and application of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint software
• Team‑oriented with proven oral and written skills to support company SH&E policy and procedural requirements
• Acceptance of an active participant role in an employee‑owned culture is mandatory
