Summary
The Warehouse Team Lead supports the Shipping Supervisor by coordinating operational functions, including picking, staging, double-checking, loading, and shipping, for all products related to procurements, transfers, customer orders, and inventory replenishment. This role is responsible for the safe, efficient, and accurate movement of product at all times.
The Responsibilities
- Assists the Manager by either opening or closing each day as directed. Changes the work schedule based on the business's demands as needed and directed.
- Steps in during the manager's absence to direct the flow of work and respond to all operational needs of the business.
- Provides for emergency openings as required (respond as 4th on call list for Alarm or Fire when the Manager is unreachable)
- Supports after-hours openings when needed.
- Leads by example in all aspects of performance: safety, productivity, quality, and efficiency.
- Partners with the Manager to provide team member feedback, performance input, assignment status follow-up, manage workload, and completion of daily tasks. Provides feedback to Manager regarding warehouse team members with a sub-standard work performance and provides recommendation for improved work performance.
- Conducts training, onboarding, reinforced education, and quick redirection of activities to support standards and expectations.
- Supports and adheres to all company policies and procedures, most especially those commonly challenged in the workplace, such as dress code, attendance, professionalism, and productivity.
- Demonstrates expert knowledge of the SOPs by making sure processes are being followed by the warehouse team and partnering with the Process Lead on suggested improvements.
- Aims to eliminate all transfer discrepancies by adhering to all SOPs, teaching others, and reporting all found picking errors to team members and the Manager.
- Conducts training adequately and educates drivers and employees assigned to transfers.
- Trains the employees on the proper use of materials handling equipment and product handling procedures.
- Trains employees on double-checking of orders and all delivery procedures.
- Partners with the assigned Manager to ensure appropriate staff coverage.
- Monitors employee break times to ensure procedures are followed appropriately.
- Works with the assigned Manager to schedule meal periods at appropriate times to ensure proper coverage is provided.
General
- Performs all Warehouse Associate duties accurately and efficiently
- Responsible for the order, organization, and cleanliness of their responsible areas
- Promptly answers phones, returns phone calls, and routes messages, notes, or other communication as needed
- Supports Manager primarily with outbound operations, which include picking, staging, labeling, loading, job assignments, training, startup meetings, securing the building, safety walks, pushing invoice dates, incident reporting, and other tasks deemed necessary by management
Safety
- Works with the Manager as the top safety advocate.
- Adheres to safety procedures by example, addresses safety matters as needed with staff, and immediately reports any unsafe act or unsafe condition to the Manager.
- Trains employees on all Safety procedures.
- Conducts safety observations to ensure safety policies and procedures are followed.
- Influences the safety behaviors of employees through positive performance recognition and accountability for safety violations and poor safety behaviors.
- Review all inspection forms and communicate any issues with the Manager, and report any safety issues to management and corporate.
- Suggests operational improvements related to safety.
- Immediately corrects unsafe conditions in the warehouse.
- Immediately reports safety accidents, injuries, and incidents to the Manager and/or Vice President of Operations. Assists with the collection of safety data for accurate report completion.
Procurements & Transfers
- Ensures product procurement & transfers are handled properly and efficiently.
- Ensure proper procedures are followed related to pulling / checking / loading and receiving.
- Ensures all procurement & transfers are pulled the same day they are entered in the system, and that transfers are received in the system the same day they are received.
- Ensures all outgoing transfers have been double-checked.
Other
- Safety Sensitive Position: the ability to perform job functions in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner.
- Maintains proficiency with company computer systems in aspects related to job, such as data entry, messaging, call logs, data notations, queue updates, batching, or other job & office functions and requirements.

Job Requirements
- High School diploma or its GED equivalent
- 3 or more years’ experience with logistics or distribution and related functions
- Demonstrated knowledge of MS Office Suite applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Aptitude for mathematical operations and numerical analysis
- Use computers, photocopiers, scanners, phone systems, and meeting & virtual platform sharing relative to the needs of the job
- Minimum keyboarding skills of 40 words per minute
