Job Summary

The Warehouse/Shop Assistant is responsible for carrying out daily physical tasks in the Warehouse to support in-house manufacturing and field service projects. These tasks include general housekeeping, shipping, and receiving, packaging, picking, sorting, and storing, inventory counting, tool and vehicle check-in/check-out, and other operational duties as directed by their manager. This role will work to ensure safe, secure, and accurate onsite storage and distribution of parts, equipment, tools, and inventory and is required to keep accurate and up-to-date stock records. As the Warehouse/Shop Assistant, you will need to safely operate equipment such as forklifts, overhead lifts, and pallet jacks to move, unpack, and pack large and heavy equipment. You will also use software and the Microsoft Office Suite to perform daily tasks. Additionally, you will be responsible for ensuring that all departments have adequate access to materials for smooth daily operations. This role is designed to provide backup coverage for the Operations Support Specialist position. You may also perform routine maintenance tasks of the grounds, facility, and fleet of service vehicles, equipment, and tools. The Warehouse/Shop Assistant is encouraged to suggest process improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. Training will be provided.

Job Duties

Essential Duties

• Offload and inspect goods on arrival and prior to dispatch, reporting any damages or discrepancies.
• Verify incoming shipments against packing slips and purchase orders.
• Sort, organize, label, and store materials.
• Prepare and package items for shipment via various carriers.
• Load outbound shipments onto carrier vehicles.
• Issue stock to departments as needed.
• Palletize, strap, and wrap large equipment for shipment or storage.
• Move and stage materials within the warehouse and shop.
• Ensure accurate picking and packing according to documentation.
• Perform inventory cycle counts and participate in annual physical inventory.
• Manage check-in/check-out procedures for vehicles and tools.
• Prepare tools, vehicles, and equipment for use by field personnel.
• Assist with facility maintenance and run errands as needed.
• Deliver or pick up materials and documentation from job sites.
• Maintain accurate records of all warehouse transactions.
• Support production activities when required.
• Suggest improvements to processes to reduce waste and increase productivity.
• Perform housekeeping duties to maintain a clean and organized work environment.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to lift up to 75 lbs., load heavy equipment, and stand for long periods.

Working Conditions

• Office, manufacturing, outdoor, and warehouse environments.
• The warehouse is not climate-controlled.
• Overtime may be required.

Qualifications

Educational/Experience Requirements

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Minimum 1-year experience operating a forklift; certification is a plus.
• 1 year of warehouse, inventory, shipping/receiving, or purchasing experience.
• Experience with electrical controls, security systems, CCTV, or fire alarm components is a plus.
• Good physical stamina and manual dexterity.
• Team player with good organizational and communication skills.
• Problem-solving skills.

Skills and Abilities

• Operation of forklifts, pallet jacks, and overhead lifts.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
• Knowledge of inventory processes and warehouse operations.
• Mechanically inclined for basic repairs.

Licenses and Certifications

• Valid Texas driver's license and insurance.

Other Requirements

• Good driving record, clean background, and pass drug tests.
