Job summary

Design Within Reach is seeking an Operations Team Lead to coordinate day-to-day warehouse activities on the assigned shift, ensuring safety, quality, customer service, and cost objectives are met.

You will back up the Operations Supervisor, train temporary staff, manage scheduling, and drive continuous improvement in workflows while communicating clearly with team members and leadership.

Qualifications

• Experience using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) to support daily operations, reporting, and workflow execution.
• Prior Team Lead or Acting Supervisor experience in a warehouse or distribution environment.
• Experience reading, understanding, and applying SOPs, work instructions, and process documentation.
• Experience operating or overseeing the operation of material handling equipment (forklifts, pallet jacks, RF scanners, conveyors).
• Experience leading shift handoffs and daily start up meetings.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Back up the Operations Supervisor in their absence.
• Ensure team members understand job instructions, safety requirements, and quality guidelines.
• Identify, document, and develop solutions to workflow problems and issues.
• Lead and coordinate all teams and activities for the shift to meet safety, quality, customer expectations, and cost objectives.
• Provide feedback on team member performance to the Operations Supervisor.
• Report on customer service, employee safety, equipment, or facility issues to appropriate personnel.
• Review daily team assignments to ensure proper staffing.
• Update and maintain the schedule to meet customer demand and reporting needs.
• Perform additional responsibilities to achieve business objectives.
