ABOUT THE ROLE

The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the reliable and efficient receipt, storage, organization, and distribution of all supplies and parts needed for Valley construction project sites. You will monitor warehouse facility operations to ensure that parts and supplies are located and distributed expediently and appropriately in accordance with project specifications and requirements.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

• Accurately document and fulfill requests for materials, equipment, and tools to ensure the timely delivery of proper inventory to job sites and completion of projects to specifications.
• Monitor, track, and inspect warehouse inventory to ensure safety, understand capacity and supply job sites with the most efficient equipment.
• Schedule maintenance and repairs of facilities, equipment, and vehicle fleet to ensure safety and extend the life of the equipment.
• Develop strong relationships and seek opportunities for collaborative efforts.
• Resolve with urgency matters affecting the delivery or quality of parts and supplies.
• Interact with other internal management personnel to ensure compliance with all organizational and safety requirements, meet schedules and deadlines, and accomplish the organization’s key performance objectives. Utilizes other managers as resources and sounding boards for feedback and advice.
• Oversees inventory control, including parts and supply ordering, invoicing, delivery, stocking, and restocking; shrinkage control; tracking system development and entry; process development; and cost management, while ensuring the observance of quality, safety, and performance standards. Coordinates deliveries of parts/supplies from vendors, inspects deliveries as needed, works with vendors to resolve any quality issues discovered, and communicates unresolved concerns as directed. Regularly examines warehouse layout and retrieval methods to ensure optimal processing of orders.
• Schedules deliveries, both to and from the facility, in a timely fashion that respects the projects’ schedules, assures accurate truck content, and meets safety standards. Accommodates situations that could account for delivery delays (weather, traffic, accidents, road closures, etc.). Manages truck allocation and makes optimal use of delivery opportunities based upon locations, supplies, and truck capacity.
• Ensures the overall routine and critical facility maintenance and cleanliness through partnership with maintenance staff. Coordinates annual preventative maintenance activities for warehouse facility and main office.
• Collaborates with Safety Manager to design unique scaffolding plans as needed and ensures delivery to job sites.
• May perform ancillary duties such as truck loading, unloading, and driving; stocking; ordering; and facility or equipment maintenance as needed.
• Assures that warehouse parking lot remains accessible and cleared during winter weather.
• Establishes and maintains relationship with suppliers and vendors to ensure Valley has access to the tools, materials and equipment needed for jobs. Utilizes suppliers as an educational resource on new equipment, tools and materials as needed. Monitors vendor performance and ability to meet contractual specifications, resolving issues, or recommending actions to obtain other suppliers. Seeks opportunities for improved contractual agreements or improved pricing with suppliers/vendors to secure the best advantage for Valley.

WHO YOU ARE

• Experience: 2-4 years of experience in a similar role (Warehouse management) or in the Construction Industry. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Reasoning and Development: Ability to interpret and carry out a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram or schedule form; deal with problems involving several concrete variables.
• Mathematical Development: Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Language Development: Ability to read manuals and reports, workplace rules and procedures; speak with poise and confidence, using correct English.
• Licenses & Certifications: Valid Driver's License, Forklift Certification, pass DOT Physical.
• Education: Min. HSD or GED; college preferred but not required.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The work environment characteristics described here are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job.

The incumbent will continuously work around moving vehicles and wear safety shoes. The employee will frequently (34%-66 % of time on the job) be required to work indoors, wear a safety vest, safety glasses, and work gloves. Occasionally (6-33% time on job) the employee will be required to work outdoors, and in conditions of cold below 55 Degrees Fahrenheit. Infrequently (2-5% time on job) the incumbent will be required to work with machinery with moving parts, in heat greater than 90 Degrees Fahrenheit and wear ear plugs or a hard hat. Rarely (1% time on the job or less) the employee will be required to work alone, or in the presence of chemicals and fumes from spray paint.
