Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum 7 years in distribution/warehouse operations with 3+ years in management.
  • P&L responsibility and budget management experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with operational KPIs across safety, productivity, and on-time delivery.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS systems and distribution management.
  • PVF industry or wholesale/industrial distribution experience preferred.

Salary Range: $160,000.00 To $180,000.00 Annually

Position Summary:

The General Manager is responsible for the overall leadership, performance, and growth of the Indianapolis Distribution Center, with accountability for sales, profitability, market share, operational excellence, and customer and team member satisfaction. The General Manager is committed to providing excellent customer service to both internal and external customers while maintaining strict confidentiality with all team members and serving as an ambassador of our culture.

Essential Functions:

  • Provides strategic and operational leadership for the Indianapolis Distribution Center, establishing priorities and driving solutions that support the facility’s short- and long-term success.
  • Assumes overall accountability for distribution center performance, including safety, service, productivity, inventory, labor, operational efficiency, financial results, and team performance.
  • Leads, coaches, mentors, and develops distribution center managers, building leadership capability and holding leaders accountable for the performance of their respective areas.
  • Provides leadership and oversight of warehouse operations, dispatch, counter sales, and other functions assigned to the distribution center.
  • Maintains direct responsibility for the distribution center’s P&L and budget, regularly reviewing financial performance, identifying opportunities, and partnering with the CFO and VP of Operations on business results and priorities.
  • Evaluates company and distribution center metrics and trends to identify opportunities, solve problems, improve operational efficiency, and drive continuous improvement.
  • Collaborates with inside and outside sales teams to understand customer needs, strengthen relationships, support business growth, and ensure operational capabilities align with customer expectations.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with customers, vendors, and other business partners to strengthen partnerships, understand customer and market needs, stay informed of industry best practices, and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
  • Ensures clear and timely communication of organizational priorities, operational goals, performance expectations, milestones, and key business updates, creating alignment and accountability throughout the distribution center.
  • Develops and executes plans to support the continued growth and scalability of the distribution center, anticipating future needs related to staffing, leadership, capacity, processes, equipment, technology, and infrastructure.
  • Establishes clear expectations and holds leaders and team members accountable for behaviors, actions, performance, and results through consistent communication, coaching, and follow-up.
  • Delegates responsibilities and decision-making appropriately, providing coaching, development opportunities, and meaningful goals that strengthen leadership capability and prepare talent for future responsibilities.
  • Identifies, develops, and utilizes available resources—including people, processes, technology, tools, and cross-functional partnerships to achieve business objectives.
  • Conducts timely, objective, and meaningful performance and compensation reviews for direct reports and participates in other team member reviews as appropriate.
  • Creates an environment of trust, accountability, collaboration, and respect by treating team members fairly, recognizing contributions, and fostering strong working relationships across the organization.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to lead, coach, develop, and hold others accountable for performance and results.
  • Strong business and financial acumen, including the ability to understand and manage budgets, P&L performance, operational metrics, and key performance indicators.
  • Strong knowledge of distribution center operations, including warehouse operations, inventory management, order fulfillment, dispatch, and customer service.
  • Ability to analyze information, identify opportunities, solve problems, and make sound business decisions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with team members, customers, vendors, and leaders throughout the organization.
  • Ability to establish priorities, manage multiple responsibilities, delegate effectively, and drive results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead through change, influence others, and create alignment across teams and departments.
  • Strong organizational skills with attention to detail and follow-through.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions while exercising appropriate independent judgment and decision-making authority.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to effectively utilize business systems, operational technology, and reporting tools.
  • Knowledge of wholesale/industrial distribution operations; knowledge of pipes, valves, and fittings preferred.
  • Must be able to communicate in English regarding the essential functions of the position.
Required Experience and Education:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Logistics, or a related field preferred; equivalent combination of education and relevant experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in distribution, warehouse operations, supply chain, or a related operational environment, including at least 3 years in a management role.
  • Experience with budget management, cost control, labor planning, productivity metrics, and operational financial performance required; P&L responsibility strongly preferred.
  • Experience establishing and managing operational KPIs related to safety, productivity, accuracy, labor, inventory, customer service, and on-time delivery.
  • Demonstrated success developing leaders, improving team performance, managing accountability, and building a strong workplace culture.
  • Wholesale or industrial distribution experience preferred; PVF industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with ERP/WMS and other distribution management systems preferred.

  • Must be able to lift, carry, push and/or pull50 lbs.

  • Exposure to extreme temperatures and elements, noise, and fumes.
