Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Apply standardized project management methodologies to plan, execute, and assess Advancement initiatives.
  • Develop comprehensive project plans, including timelines, tasklists, and resource allocation strategies.
  • Lead and facilitate project team meetings, ensuring clear communication and accountability.
  • Monitor project progress and proactively address risks, scope changes, and resource needs.
  • Support the development and execution of strategic Advancement initiatives, including campaigns, events, and donor engagement strategies.
  • Assist in policy formation, program development, and implementation aligned with institutional and Advancement goals.
  • Conduct project reviews and share best practices to improve operational effectiveness across the division.
  • Develop and manage detailed project budgets and schedules based on scope, staffing, and resource requirements.
  • Ensure efficient use of financial and human resources to meet project objectives.
  • Develop and implement communication and change management plans for projects.
  • Serve as a liaison between Advancement leadership, project teams, and campus partners.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support fundraising and engagement goals.
  • Oversee the collection, analysis, and reporting of project data to ensure accuracy and consistency.
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior leadership to support decision-making.
  • Utilize data insights to enhance project outcomes and strategic initiatives.
  • Ensure all projects adhere to university policies, as well as state and federal regulations.
  • Provide guidance on industry trends, best practices, and compliance considerations within Advancement.

Key Responsibilities

Project Management & Execution

Required Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, business,communications, nonprofit management, or a related field.

  • Minimum of 5-7 years of relevant professional experience inproject management, advancement, or a related area, or anequivalent combination of education and experience.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification orequivalent.

  • Experience in higher education Advancement, fundraisingoperations, or alumni relations.


Wage employees are paid an hourly rate for actual hours worked are limited to working 1500 hours per year and can only work a maximum of 29 hours a week. Work hours must be counted on the basis of the twelve-month period beginning May 1 of each year and April30 of the following year. Wage employees in all agencies (allbranches of government) are limited to working no more than 1500hours during each twelve-month period of May 1-April 30. Should youwork 1500 hours prior to April 30, your services will be terminatedimmediately. You will not be eligible for employment again untilMay 1. It is the responsibility of the employee and supervisor, aswell as the Office of Human Resources, to monitor these hours toensure compliance to policy. Wage employees may not earn leave nordo they have access to the Grievance Procedure process. They arenot covered by the provision of the Virginia Personnel Act and arenot entitled to the benefits afforded employees occupyingclassified positions.
