Adopt A Highway Maintenance Corporation (AHMC) is seeking a part-time Crew Member in Olympia, WA to remove litter along highways in daylight hours.

The role starts early and typically ends around 3:30 PM, with the crew working mostly outdoors, weather permitting. You must be 18+, able to lift 20 lbs, and have reliable transportation to attend daily shifts. Safety equipment is provided and training is available.

• Walk several miles and be on feet for majority of shift.
• Able to communicate verbally and follow supervisor instructions.

Responsibilities

• Work outdoors along highways during daylight hours.
• Start early and finish typically around 3:30 PM.
• Mix of litter removal and traveling between cleaning spots.
• Crew is provided safety equipment and may be transported from a morning pickup point.
• Support routine maintenance and cleanup duties as required.

Reports To:Field Maintenance Supervisor

Location: Olympia, WA

FLSA Status:Variable Hours, Part-Time, (On-Call), Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday-Friday (8 hour shifts)

Here are some facts about this position:

• The work is outdoors along highways during daylight hours
• The work starts early but we also get done early usually around 3:30 each day
• We have been doing this type of work for over 30 years
• Crew are provided free snacks and during the week we treat for lunch least once a week
• Safety equipment is provided and replaced as needed
• The work is mixed between litter removal and travel from cleaning spots
• We have a pickup spot that we meet at every morning and then we handle all the transportation

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older and able to lift up to 20lbs independently
• Have reliable transportation and be able to attend scheduled shifts
• Walk several miles at a time and be on their feet for the majority of their shift
• Communicate verbally and listen to instructions from their supervisor
• Be comfortable working outdoors up to 90% of the shift with exposure to varying temperatures and weather patterns **We do not work in extreme weather conditions**
• Be comfortable working alongside the shoulder of the highway
