Job summary

Adopt A Highway Maintenance Corporation (AHMC) is seeking a part-time Maintenance Crew Member in San Jose, CA to perform litter removal along highways during daylight hours. The shift starts early and typically ends around 3:30 PM, with transportation provided from a morning pickup point.

This outdoor role requires being on your feet for most of the shift, lifting up to 20 lbs, and working in varying temperatures. Equal opportunity employer.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and able to lift up to 20lbs independently
• Have reliable transportation and be able to attend scheduled shifts
• Walk several miles at a time and be on their feet for the majority of their shift
• Communicate verbally and listen to instructions from their supervisor
• Be comfortable working outdoors up to 90% of the shift with exposure to varying temperatures and weather patterns
• We do not work in extreme weather conditions

Responsibilities

• The work is outdoors along highways during daylight hours
• The work starts early but we also get done early usually around 3:30 each day
• We have a pickup spot that we meet at every morning and then we handle all the transportation
• We handle litter removal and travel from cleaning spots
• Safety equipment is provided and replaced as needed

Salary Range: $17.76 To $17.76 Annually

Reports To: Field Maintenance Supervisor

Location: San Jose, California

FLSA Status: Variable Hours, Part-Time, Non-Exempt

Schedule: Monday through Friday

Here are some facts about this position:

• The work is outdoors along highways during daylight hours
• The work starts early but we also get done early usually around 3:30 each day
• We have been doing this type of work for over 30 years
• Crew are provided free snacks and during the week we treat for lunch least once a week
• Safety equipment is provided and replaced as needed
• The work is mixed between litter removal and travel from cleaning spots
• We have a pickup spot that we meet at every morning and then we handle all the transportation

Requirements:

• Must be 18 years or older and able to lift up to 20lbs independently
• Have reliable transportation and be able to attend scheduled shifts
• Walk several miles at a time and be on their feet for the majority of their shift
• Communicate verbally and listen to instructions from their supervisor
• Be comfortable working outdoors up to 90% of the shift with exposure to varying temperatures and weather patterns **We do not work in extreme weather conditions**
• Be comfortable working alongside the shoulder of the highway
