Job summary

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED; U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, or DACA recipient; no felony convictions or offenses indicating criminal behavior; minimum age 21; valid WA Driver's License; ability to read, write and speak English as required.
• Must hold or obtain a valid WA Corrections Officer Academy certification or equivalency certification within 12 months of employment.
• Must meet Civil Service Pre-Employment Screening Standards and Sheriff's Office Employment Standards.
• Veterans' Preference requires DD Form 214 or NGB Form 22 or separation orders with declaration.

Responsibilities

• Receive, search, book, fingerprint, and photograph incoming prisoners; issue jail uniforms and records and classify inmates.
• Maintain jail security through observations, searches, and orderly conduct; ensure basic hygiene and welfare of inmates.
• Prepare and deliver prisoners to courts, transfers, and releases; log court dispositions and maintain files.
• Respond to disturbances, medical crises, and emergencies; supervise meals and prisoner movements.
• Monitor surveillance equipment and other job-related equipment; document reports and rosters.
• Attend training, meetings, and communicate effectively by phone or other means.
• Perform related duties as required.
