Job summary

Thurston County Sheriff's Office seeks a Deputy Sheriff to patrol a designated county area, conduct on-scene investigations, and render public services. The role involves enforcing traffic laws, issuing citations, and maintaining safety at crime and accident scenes.

Qualified applicants must have a WA law enforcement academy certificate or equivalent, pass a comprehensive background check, and be able to obtain certification within 12 months.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED and U.S. citizenship or eligible status.
• Must hold or obtain WA Basic Law Enforcement Academy Certificate or equivalent.
• Must pass background check, medical/psychological exams and polygraph.

Responsibilities

• Patrol designated areas by car, boat, or on foot to deter crime and respond to incidents.
• Investigate crimes, interview victims/witnesses, and prepare reports.
• Execute warrants and make arrests as needed, ensuring custody and safety.
• Respond to accidents, provide first aid, and coordinate with other units.
• Testify in court and participate in ongoing investigations as required.
