Job summary

The Carlisle Group is seeking a Vice President of Staff Underwriting, a remote role guiding underwriting standards, AI-driven strategies, and product alignment across MGA units. You will direct audits, compliance, and authority processes while partnering with BU leaders to optimize risk and performance.

Qualified candidates bring 15+ years in commercial lines underwriting, deep construction/casualty expertise, NY labor law familiarity, and strong executive communication to lead cross-functional

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; master’s is a plus; industry certifications highly desired.
• 15+ years in commercial lines underwriting with construction and contractor focus.
• Strong small to mid-market casualty experience in construction.
• Experience with New York labor law is highly desired.
• Prefer both admitted and surplus lines formats.
• Demonstrated experience collaborating with product management and actuarial with leading commercial lines carriers as an underwriter and underwriting manager.
• Executive-level communication skills and ability to lead cross-functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Establish underwriting standards and best practices for each MGA unit and collaborate with BU leaders to develop a value proposition.
• Oversee internal underwriting audit and quality assurance efforts.
• Collaborate with BU leaders to establish underwriting referral standards and processes.
• Collaborate with the compliance team to ensure processes and program details are compliant.
• Establish and maintain underwriting authority processes and documentation.
• Lead the AI strategy as it relates to underwriting and ensure AI processes are controlled and measurable.
• Develop policy forms, underwriting guidelines, and maintain a library of documentation.
• Collaborate with Claims on feedback for underwriting decisions and product development.
• Monitor data integrity, scorecards, and KPIs with BU leaders and Product Managers.
• Manage third party data vendors and evaluate external data tools for efficiency.
