Job summary

Avantus in San Diego is seeking a Director or Vice President, Origination to source, negotiate, and execute PPAs for solar and energy storage projects. You will build and maintain relationships with utilities and take-off partners, and lead cross-functional teams to deliver competitive power off-take solutions.

You will also perform market analyses, develop pricing strategies, and drive growth in the CAISO market and the western United States.

Qualifications

• MBA and three years of experience in the position or a related position.
• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, or foreign equivalent degree plus eight years of progressive experience in power (energy) markets.
• Three years of experience in long term energy procurement structures and technologies.
• Experience and knowledge of renewable generation technologies.
• Knowledge of regulatory policies, rates and tariffs and electric transmission.
• Solid understanding of economic drivers for renewable energy projects.
• Independent self-starter who can meet deadlines and deliver quality products with minimal oversight.
• Ability to translate contracts into concise financial and economic analysis.
• Detail-oriented with personal responsibility and ownership of work product.
• Excellent negotiation and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Sourcing, negotiating and executing PPAs and other complex power off-take arrangements in the solar power industry.
• Build and expand relationships with utilities, CCAs, and take-off partners.
• Negotiate and close PPAs with large utility and target customers.
• Collaborate with development,finance, engineering to develop proposals and pricing.
• Negotiate power contracts with stakeholders across the organization.
• Evaluate market revenue potential and develop project revenue forecasts.
• Present key deal points and recommendations to executive management.
• Travel to customer meetings and relevant industry conferences.
• Focus on PPA opportunities in the western United States, especially CAISO.
