Job summary

Avantus is seeking a Director or Sr. Director, Origination to source and close PPA-based solar and energy storage off-take deals in California and the Southwest.

You will build strategic relationships with utilities, negotiate complex contracts, and coordinate with finance and development teams on multiple concurrent transactions, with up to 50% travel. Deep knowledge of CAISO markets and storage economics is required; Avantus offers competitive pay and comprehensive benefits in a hybrid

Qualifications

• 5–10 years of power origination experience, with a strong track record of closing PPAs.
• Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Business Administration or related field.
• Strong experience with utility-scale energy procurement structures and transactions.
• Energy markets knowledge with focus on solar and storage, regulations, tariffs.
• Ability and willingness to travel up to 50% in defined territory.
• Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Excellent sales, networking, leadership, negotiation and time management skills.

Responsibilities

• Originating new opportunities for solar and energy storage off-take in defined territory.
• Create and nurture relationships with utilities, CCAs and off-take partners.
• Negotiate and close PPAs, manage due diligence, negotiation and post-closing oversight.
• Respond to RFPs and coordinate with finance and development teams.
• Work with finance to perform analyses and build models.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams across multiple projects.
• Translate market trends into actionable strategies.
