Job summary

PlayOn seeks a strategic VP of Cloud Operations to unify Cloud Engineering, SRE, and DevOps into a single, high-performing organization. You will own platform reliability, drive cost-aware cloud architecture, and deliver a self-service platform built on Terraform and Kubernetes for rapid product delivery.

Reporting to the CTO, you will partner with Security, Product, and Data leadership to scale across NFHS Network, GoFan, MaxPreps, and PlayOn HQ while maintaining SOC 2 and PCI DSS alignment and

Qualifications

• 10+ years in infrastructure, platform, or SRE with 5+ years in senior leadership
• Proven track record consolidating Cloud Eng, SRE, and DevOps into a single org
• Deep hands-on experience running production AWS workloads at scale across multiple accounts/regions
• Strong experience owning SLOs and incident management for high-traffic, real-time systems
• Expertise with Terraform, containers, Kubernetes, and modern CI/CD tooling
• FinOps experience with cost visibility and budget forecasting across AWS
• Knowledge of observability tools (New Relic, CloudWatch, Datadog) and modern logging
• Solid cloud security basics, IAM, network segmentation, SOC 2 and PCI DSS awareness
• Excellent executive communication and stakeholder management
• Ability to scale infra teams in a high-growth consumer platform
• BS required; MS preferred in related field

Responsibilities

• Unify Cloud Engineering, SRE, and DevOps into a single org with clear charters and on-call ownership
• Own availability and performance for live streaming and ticketing platforms with defined SLOs/SLIs
• Build FinOps practices for visibility into AWS spend with measurable cost efficiencies
• Deliver a self-service platform based on Terraform and Kubernetes for product teams
• Lead incident management, on-call programs, and postmortems to reduce MTTR
• Drive adoption of IaC and self-service tooling to accelerate provisioning
• Own CI/CD strategy and deployment standards with Engineering leadership
• Manage FinOps program across AWS footprint and budget forecasting
• Oversee observability stack and proactive monitoring initiatives
• Plan capacity for high-traffic events ensuring zero-downtime scaling
• Mentor cloud engineering leaders and drive a culture of ownership
• Monitor KPIs and report infrastructure performance to CTO and exec team
• Collaborate with Security, Product, and Data leadership on platform decisions
