Job summary

Counterpart, a fully remote company, seeks a VP of Engineering to lead a flat, AI-driven engineering org. You’ll own the technical vision, operations, and people strategy while collaborating with executive leadership and product managers across distributed teams.

You will shape how software is built in an AI-native world, scale the engineering function, and ensure reliability, security, and compliance across SOC 2, HIPAA, and cybersecurity requirements.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of engineering leadership experience.
• Strong point of view on AI-native engineering and economics.
• Deep fluency in system architecture, AI and data infra.
• Experience leading distributed teams with high trust and accountability.
• Experience in regulated industries preferred (SOC 2, HIPAA, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Evolve how the flat engineering org scales with AI-driven agents.
• Define and own the technical vision, engineering operations, and people strategy.
• Shape how Counterpart builds software in an AI-native world with cross-functional partners.
• Oversee infrastructure, developer experience, and AI/data platforms.
• Own hiring, performance management, and people operations for Engineering.
