Job summary

Ares Management LLC is seeking a Vice President to join the Investment Operations team in New York or Los Angeles. The role focuses on monitoring and resolving cash and par discrepancies, while enhancing platform capabilities, processes, and controls.

Strong problem-solving and stakeholder collaboration are essential. The VP reports to the Principal of Investment Operations and Global Head of Reconciliations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance or other business-related discipline.
• 10–12 years of investment management operations experience with emphasis on reconciliation.
• Experience with investment operations and reconciliation in a management firm.
• Strong knowledge of credit/fixed income, derivatives, FX, and bank debt.
• Understanding of loan industry standards and financial intermediaries.
• Proficient in Outlook, Word, Wall Street Office and Geneva; PowerBI and Python helpful.

Responsibilities

• Oversee cash and par reconciliation process; provide escalation for recon issues.
• Manage daily reconciliation across cash, par, non-custody with custodian banks and agents.
• Direct firms on solutions for trends; review outputs for accuracy and root-causes.
• Prepare daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly KPIs to track trends.
• Maintain quality controls; ensure breaks are escalated and resolved.
• Ensure compliance with internal, legal, and regulatory policies.
• Oversee audit inquiries and SOC 1 controls testing.
• Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve workflows.
• Contribute ideas to improve process efficiencies and risk mitigation.
• Participate in meetings and system enhancements for new business conversions.
• Manage relationships with custodian banks, agent banks, and admins.
