Job summary

Ares is seeking a Vice President (Controller) to lead the Investment Accounting team in New York, driving accounting, reporting, and analytics for the global platform.

The VP will partner with Investment Professionals, Portfolio Management, Fund Accounting, FP&A, and others to evaluate complex transactions and translate them into scalable solutions, while shaping policies, controls, and technology.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or related discipline required.
• CPA or CPA candidacy preferred.
• 10+ years of experience in investment accounting, public accounting, fund accounting, or related financial services.
• Strong understanding of alternative investments and transaction structures; ability to assess complex accounting.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage priorities, and deliver high-quality execution.
• Strong executive presence and communication skills with ability to influence across functions.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the New York Investment Accounting team; set priorities and foster ownership.
• Collaborate with IA leadership across NY, London, and Mumbai to drive a global operating model.
• Advise on complex investments, terms, fees, and revenue recognition under policy.
